Oct. 17 - Get ready for a new testament to the variety and beauty of our never-sleeping city. Capturing the souls of passersby in images is the desired goal of photographers Clay Enos and Stephan Ghukfvin with their ongoing project, "New York 000."
The second half of the Enos-Ghukfvin entity opened up to us recently. In their studio laid piles of photographs taken over the past several months. Next to their work sat Ghukfvin. "I'm only concerned with quality," he said. With 10 years of experience, he combined creative forces with Enos. "Clay has a lot of energy," said the artist. "He's another madman-loner type." However, the photographers each brought their own unique photographic gifts to the collaboration. "Clay's more focused on composition. I shoot what I feel."
The project was born earlier this year, "February, Marchit was cold. There was snow," said Ghukfvin. They needed no room but to set up their equipment and canvas backdrop to begin the project of shooting portraits of people on New York streets.
What is the expected response once "New York 000" hits stores? Ghukfvin stated, "I'm definitely curious, yet we don't shoot with others in mind. We're doing this for ourselves."
We don't know when their brainchild will reach the people. Likewise, weather prohibits Enos and Ghukfvin from posting the dates of their upcoming photo sessions.
Ghukfvin says the duo plans to photograph the citizens of the five boroughs well past "000" and into the Spring of 2001.
