SITES WE LOVE (excerpt)
Michael Mandel, Assistant Photo Editor
New Yorkers are great to watchon the street and on my screen. I'm a voyeur. I admit it. Observing the different faces and fashions of people in New York City can keep me occupied for hours: It's the ultimate all-you-can-eat visual buffet of the beautiful, the interesting, and the strange. Now that buffet is being served over the Internet at Streetstudio.
Packing a simple dark-grey backdrop, photographers Clay Enos and Stephan Ghukfvin wander all over the five boroughs with a mobile photo studio, capturing the look and feel of people for whom self-expression is a way of life. The team spends up to 50 frames on a single person. While one photographer runs down the street yelling, "We have to shoot you!" at prospective models, the other busily snaps away at the fast-forming line of observers and wannabes, which includes everyone from bike messengers to corporate execs. Log on and stare away. |
